Got this from the Internet:
A ship was floating in an open sea when the captain of the ship noticed a light emitting infront of him about 10 nautical miles away. He sends a radio signal and upon getting response, replies:
“This is captain of the Ship. You are right in my direction, please, change your direction about 45 degree to the south.”
He recieves a reply: “No! you need to change your direction 45 degree to the north”
Captain gets pissed and replies: “I am a former captain of a fighter ship which used to carry arsenal and used to destroy enemies’ ships upon my order. I command you to change your position 45 degree to the south.”
He gets a reply back: “And I am the one who used to command captains of the likes of you where to go for attack. You CHANGE your position 45 degree to the North.”
Frustrated captain get annoyed and sends a reply: “Listen! I am still wearing my Naval uniform and I am still in command and position to have my weapons used against you. So, you! the damn person should move out of my way and change your position 45 degree to the south.”
He recieves a reply back: “I do not know what you can do or can not, but I am still the same as I used to be and you never came in my way and you always followed my command. So, I command you to change your direction 45 degree to the North.”
Angry captain sends a warning: “I am going to collide with you and will destroy you even if I have to kill myself but there is no way I am going to take orders! Either you change your direction or wait to bear the consequences.”
The response comes: “Fine! do what you want. If you do not want to change your direction, you are going to destroy yourself. I am not changing my directions. I am the Light House!”
This might sound funny for some, but didn’t us allow our ego to stand in the way of our ability to make good decision from time to time?
A thing to ponder about!
btw. there are many versions of this in the Internet:
